Principals & Vice-Principals
The Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board follows a continuous recruitment process for the positions of Elementary and Secondary Principal and Elementary and Secondary Vice-principal. If you are fully qualified, please complete all parts of this application and submit them prior to the dates set out below. Please note that the Interview Selection Committee will only consider applications for the positions of Elementary and Secondary Principal and Elementary and Secondary Vice-principal from candidates who currently hold both Parts 1 and 2 of the Principal’s Qualification Program (or can provide evidence of completing Part 2 no later than March 1st of the current school year), and evidence of these qualifications has been posted on the Ontario College of Teachers’ website.
Only complete application packages received electronically within the timelines indicated for the current school year will be considered by the Interview Selection Committee.
Please ensure that your application package contains all of the following documents:
- the Kawartha Pine Ridge DSB standard application form;
- reference check forms (to be completed and submitted individually by three of the applicant’s references);
- a Reference Consent Form;
- a Principal Candidate Assessment Form or Vice-principal Candidate Assessment Form as applicable;
- your most current Performance Appraisal.
Following each closing date:
The Interview Selection Committee will review all applications received and identify candidates who will move on to the Pool Selection Process. All elements of the application package will be evaluated using a consistent process and scoring system.
Successful and unsuccessful candidates will be notified accordingly and internal candidates will be provided a debriefing upon request.
A Superintendent of Student Achievement and a current Principal will arrange to conduct a site visit in order to verify the candidate’s input, the supervisor’s input and to seek input from the candidate’s colleagues.
If successful, the candidate will proceed to the interview. The interview will include a series of questions intended to allow candidates to demonstrate the connection between their knowledge, skills and experience and the role to which they are applying (primarily using Behavioural Descriptive questions).
Successful candidates will be placed on a “Short List” for a three year term. As vacancies arise, Senior Administration will place candidates from the Short List.
To be considered for an interview, please submit your application package either by 4:00 p.m. on, October 15 or 4:00 p.m. on February 15. Applications are collected year-round and reviewed after the October 15 and February 15 cut off dates. Successful applicants are selected for an interview based on current needs. All components of the application must be completed and submitted electronically to firstname.lastname@example.org.
