Teaching Positions

Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board is committed to a qualified workforce that is representative of the diversity of the people of Ontario and across the communities we serve. We welcome applications from candidates with diverse background and lived experiences as a member of a marginalized group, including but not limited to:

  • First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples, and all other Indigenous peoples;
  • Members of groups that commonly experience discrimination due to race, ancestry, colour, religion and/or spiritual beliefs, or place of origin;
  • Persons with visible and/or invisible (physical and/or mental) disabilities;
  • Persons who identify as women; and
  • Persons of marginalized sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions.

KPRDSB is committed to providing barrier-free and accessible employment practices in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). Should you require accommodation through any stage of the recruitment process please make them known when contacted and we will work with you to meet your needs.

A Police Records Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search and Pardoned Sexual Offenders Database Search, valid within six months from the date of hire, is a condition of employment with the Board. Please note that there have been reports that it may take up to six weeks to process police records checks in some jurisdictions. With that in mind, we strongly suggest that candidates obtain a police screening as soon as possible.

Schools, Human Resources and the Education Centre do not accept or retain unsolicited paper or electronic resumes.

Permanent Teacher Positions

Permanent Teacher positions are posted in accordance with the current Teachers' Collective Agreement. Internal eligible applicants must be permanent teacher bargaining unit members who can accommodate the position with their existing position (if any). Teachers currently on the occasional teacher list may apply for later consideration. Where there is no successful internal applicant, the position will be posted externally.

Long Term Occasional Teacher positions are posted in accordance with the current Occasional Teachers' Collective Agreements. Internal eligible applicants must be on the current occasional teachers list. Permanent teacher bargaining unit members who can accommodate the position with their existing position (if any), may also apply. Where there is no successful internal applicant, the position will be posted externally.

External Applicants

You must be a certified teacher registered with the Ontario College of Teachers to apply for external job postings. When recruiting for jobs open to external candidates, we advertise on Apply to Education (ATE)

We encourage you to sign up for the Job Alert feature to be notified when our Board posts jobs on the network.  In order to be considered for an interview, please ensure that the documents listed below are uploaded to Apply to Education as part of your application package:

  • Certificate (or Interim) of Qualification (if available)
  • Practicum Reports or Teacher Evaluation
  • Reference Letters

Address your cover letter to Recruitment Officer, Human Resources Department.

Please note:  If you are planning to return to Ontario after working overseas or out of province, we strongly recommend that you obtain:

  • A Police Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and/or a search of the Pardoned Sexual Offenders Database from the police department in your current location (covering the time frame you were there)
  • A record of teaching/work experience from your current employer that includes the percentage of time worked, the type of assignment (contract, LTO, etc.), the subject/grades taught/position held, and the start and end date of the assignment.  This letter must be signed by an official of the organization and be printed on their official letterhead.

We recommend that you do this prior to returning to Canada or Ontario in order to avoid lengthy delays in your application process to KPRDSB.
