About COHREA

The Commissioner's Office of Human Rights, Equity & Accessibility (COHREA) is a resource for all members of the Board community.  We provide human rights education, information, assistance and advice in fostering and supporting an inclusive culture free of discrimination and harassment.

We believe that the Board should represent and serve the diversity of our larger communities and that every person interacting within and with our Board community (students, staff, unions, parents, contractors, community members etc.) are treated equitably and with dignity and respect.  When human rights concerns or issues arise, we are here and ready to assist guiding members of our Board community through the range of available resolution options.

Confidentiality, Independence & Non-interference (INP)

We are governed by strict confidentiality.  Independence and non-interference remain central to our work.  This means that we do not seek guidance nor are influenced by any individual(s) or area(s) at the Board.  Consent is always required, if and when, we are required to consult with others.   

Contacting the COHREA in Confidence

The  (COHREA) is intended to be a safe, neutral and confidential space for anyone in the Board community to bring forward human rights concerns, complaints or issues. As an arms-length office, the COHREA maintains the confidentiality of persons reporting discrimination and harassment, and of those accused of such conduct.

We welcome any concerns or questions regarding privacy and/or confidentiality.
