Alternative and Continuing Education

The Centre for Individual Studies provides a dynamic educational experience in a flexible environment where students and staff together pursue their quest for life-long learning in an atmosphere of cooperation, dignity and mutual respect.

The caring teachers at the Centre for Individual Studies (CIS) can show you how your previous studies and work experience may help you earn credits. To learn more, call the Campus Program Leader at the campus closest to you (see below) and join the thousands of students who have already completed their diploma through CIS!

Adult, Alternative and Continuing Education consists of programs in either secondary school credit courses or non-credit programs. Secondary school credit courses are offered at two Centres for Individual Studies (CIS) campuses (Clarington and Northumberland regions), and at Peterborough Alternative and Continuing Education (PACE). Non-credit classes are offered for adults in Literacy and Basic Skills through PACE and CIS. Adults can also attend day school programs, or participate in correspondence courses, and PLAR (Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition). International Languages (K-8) are offered for elementary students dependent on enrolment.
