Frequently Asked Questions

What positions are you currently hiring for?
Do you accept in person resumes?
All of our job postings are managed through an online platform called Apply to Education (ATE). If you see a position you are interested in, please click the “Apply” button and the system will guide you through each step of the online application process.
Please note that we only accept applications for roles that are currently posted.
Is there a deadline for applications?
All of our job postings will include an application closing date. Once the posting deadline has passed, we are no longer accepting applications.
What is a daily Occasional/Casual Position?
KPR maintains a roster of Occasional Teachers (OT) and Casual Educational Workers (EA, CYW, ECE, Custodian, Secretary) who are called in to cover short-term absences (sick days, personal leave, etc.) on a day-to-day basis.
The expectation is that casual and occasional employees are available and ready to work as per the requirements outlined in their respective Collective Agreement. As an internal employee, casual and occasional workers can view and apply to posted long-term assignments and permanent positions based on eligibility.
How often do you hire casual/occasional positions?
We recruit for casual and occasional positions regularly throughout the year. These postings help maintain an active casual/occasional employee roster that can support our schools and departments for daily absences and as additional needs arise.
Do I need to have my international academic credentials evaluated before applying?
We welcome applications from internationally trained job seekers. To help us accurately interpret and compare your qualifications to Canadian equivalents, we encourage applicants with international education to have their academic credentials evaluated prior to applying through recognized service providers such as World Education Services (WES).
How often do you post permanent positions?
Permanent positions are posted as vacancies become available. When a permanent role is available for external applicants, it will be posted to our current opportunities page.
Why won’t ATE allow me to submit my application?
You may be unable to submit your application if any required fields or documents are incomplete. Please ensure all sections are filled in and all mandatory documents are uploaded before submitting your application.
I applied and I haven’t heard anything? Did you receive my application?
Due to the high volume of applications we receive, we contact only those who meet the requirements of the position. If you are selected to move forward in the selection process, you will be contacted. To confirm your submission, you can review the “Jobs Applied To” section under “Job Postings” in your Apply to Education profile.
What if my interview falls on a Holy Day or Holiday?
We strive to respect the diverse backgrounds of all applicants. We aim to not schedule interviews on recognized holy days or statutory holidays. If you have specific observances that we should be aware of, please let us know so we can ensure scheduling aligns with your needs.
We are committed to providing an inclusive and accessible hiring process. Accommodations are tailored to meet the individual needs of each candidate and may include adjustments such as alternative interview formats or extended time. If you require an accommodation at any stage of the recruitment and selection process, please email us at careers@kprdsb.ca
I have completed an interview, what should I expect next?
After you have completed your interview, we will notify you of your status in the hiring process as soon as possible. We aim to share interview results within two weeks via email. If you are successful, we will reach out with details about the next steps.
My interview was unsuccessful, when can I reapply?
You may reapply after six (6) months for an opportunity to be reconsidered if there is an available posting you are interested in.
What are the requirements when submitting my references?
You are required to submit two (2) *supervisory* references with your application. We will only contact references upon completion of a successful interview.
What if my police record check comes back with a criminal record?
Having a criminal record does not automatically disqualify you from employment with us. We review all police record checks through a fair and consistent adjudication process. This process considers factors such as the nature and relevance of the offense as well as the time that has passed. Our goal is to make informed and equitable hiring decisions while ensuring a safe and supportive workplace.
If I cannot provide my original certificate or degree, what alternative documents can I submit?
We understand that some applicants may not be able to provide original academic documents. In these cases, you may submit one or more of the following acceptable alternatives:
- A certified copy of the credential
- An official transcript sent directly from the issuing institution
- A letter of verification from the academic institution
These alternatives help us verify your qualifications while keeping the process fair, accessible, and inclusive. If you do not have any of the options listed above, please reach out to careers@kprdsb.ca to discuss possible alternatives.
Does my OCT have to be in good standing?
Yes. Your Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification must be in good standing when you apply to be considered. This includes Transitional Certificates, as long as they are also in good standing.
Do you offer job specific training?
All employees are required to complete KPR’s online New Employee Orientation when they join the Board as well as job specific training. For Education Workers, NVCI training is available for individuals who do not already hold valid certification.
Do you currently hire uncertified teachers or emergency supply?
We are not currently hiring for these positions.
