Kindergarten Curriculum (2026)

A revised Kindergarten Curriculum (2026) is now available on the Ministry of Education Curriculum and Resources website. The current Kindergarten Program (2016) continues to be in effect for the remainder of this school year and will be replaced by the new Kindergarten Curriculum (2026) in the 2026-2027 school year. The intention of issuing the curriculum now is to give educators as much time as possible to familiarize themselves with the new learning in advance of implementation in the 2026-2027 school year. 

New learning in the curriculum includes evidence-based, systematic, and explicit instruction in reading, as well as strengthened learning in mathematics, science, and technology. Key features of Ontario’s full-day kindergarten program, including play-based learning supported by teachers and early childhood educators, remain unchanged.
