Keeping Up with KPR: October 28, 2026

Hello everyone,
I’m excited to be part of the amazing KPR community, and I truly look forward to working in collaboration with families, staff and partners to continue making great things happen for students.
Thank you for your ongoing involvement, partnership and support of student learning and success.

Municipal and School Board Elections
Congratulations to all candidates who participated in Monday’s Municipal and School Board Elections. Unofficial Trustee Elect results by region are available on our website.
At last night’s Board Meeting, outgoing Trustees Paul Brown, Sean Conway, Cyndi Dickson, Kathleen Flynn, Rose Kitney, Diane Lloyd and Steve Russell were recognized for their contributions as members of the Board, noting that some departing Trustees have served in the role for over 25 years.
Parent Conference Webinar Recording
More than 700 KPR parents, staff, and community members registered for the 2026 Parent Conference, featuring award-winning educator, author, and behavioural consultant Hannah Beach. In her engaging and relatable presentation, How to Raise Positively Connected Kids in an Age of Constant Stimulation, Beach shared practical strategies to help families foster connection, resilience, and well-being in a rapidly changing world.
Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive with 94% of respondents rating the webinar 5 out of 5. KPR’s Parent Involvement Committee sponsored the popular conference again this year.
For those interested in watching the webinar, the recording can be accessed through the KPR website.
Indigenous Peoples Awareness Month
November is Indigenous Peoples Awareness Month in KPR, an intentional time for students and staff to engage in learning opportunities that celebrate Indigenous cultures, languages, histories, leadership, innovation, and contributions. Together, we continue to advance Truth and Reconciliation, and meaningful relationships through learning, reflection, and action.
International and Indigenous Languages Elementary (IILE) Program
KPR’s free International and Indigenous Languages Elementary Program provides students in Kindergarten to Grade 8 an opportunity to build language skills, explore cultural traditions and learn alongside others in an inclusive environment. These non-credit classes will take place Tuesdays from 4:30 - 6:00 PM, subject to minimum enrolment. Learn more and register here by November 1.
