Updates for Families: May 29, 2026
Dear KPR Families,
With only four weeks of school left, June promises to be a busy and exciting time filled with many important academic, extracurricular and milestone activities, which will be remembered by students for years to come!
On Monday, June 1, KPR schools will celebrate Ontario Day by recognizing significant achievements and contributions of past and present generations, and highlighting Ontario’s important role in Canada! The Ministry of Education is supporting Ontario Day learning to strengthen community and a sense of belonging, build civic awareness, and enhance students’ understanding of the diverse people who have shaped the province.
In June, we recognize National Indigenous History Month as an opportunity for students and staff to engage in learning and reflection about Indigenous cultures, perspectives and histories. Students and staff continue to build on the important work that takes place all year long, supporting a deeper understanding of past, current and future experiences of Indigenous peoples in Canada.
We also celebrate Pride Month in June, as part of our commitment to creating inclusive, identity-affirming learning and working environments for 2SLGBTQQIA+ communities, and as we work to support acceptance and inclusion all year round.
Next week is National AccessAbility Week (May 31 – June 6), a time to celebrate the valuable contributions of all persons with diverse abilities and reflect on how we can eliminate barriers to accessibility and take steps towards a more inclusive society.
The first week of June also has a special focus of School Crossing Guard Appreciation Week! We say thank you to the many crossing guards who help students travel to and from school safely every day.
For more information about days of significance, please visit KPR’s Events Calendar.
Wishing you a great weekend,
Rita Russo

STSCO's Annual Opt-In for Transportation Requests
Student Transportation Services of Central Ontario (STSCO) is continuing the “opt-in” program for next school year. The opt-in program requires families to confirm their children’s intent to ride the school bus if they are eligible for transportation. Messaging about opting-in is shared directly by STSCO with all eligible families who have a Parent Portal account.
For more information on the opt-in process, visit the STSCO website.
