Updates for Families banner

Dear KPR families,

Congratulations on another successful school year! The last two weeks have been filled with many important end-of-year activities, exams, culminating tasks, graduations and other special celebrations. Well done everyone!

As I enter retirement, I feel incredibly fortunate to have been able to serve public education and Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board, working in collaboration with families and KPR staff. I am so grateful and proud of the important things we make possible for students and families, and I will treasure the meaningful experiences and memories from my time with KPR.

I am excited to share KPR’s 2026 Community Report Card, which offers highlights of some of the many achievements of students, staff and school communities! The smiling faces and inspiring stories within embody examples of excellence in Learning, Life and Community across KPR’s vibrant school communities! Please take a few minutes to read the stories in this year’s report.

For information about days of significance, please visit KPR’s Events Calendar or follow @kprschools on Facebook and Instagram.

Wishing you a wonderful summer.

Best wishes,

Rita Russo
Chief Executive Officer

KPR NEWS

Summer Office Hours

School offices are open until Friday, July 3 and then closed for the summer. Offices are open again August 26 – September 3 (closed September 4) and then schools re-open to students for the first day of school on Tuesday, September 8. Registration, transcripts, and other services and information can be accessed through the KPR website over the summer.

Updated Class Lookup Timing for 2026-2027

KPR is adjusting the timing of the Class Lookup process for the 2026-2027 school year for Kindergarten - Grade 8 students. Similar to practices at other school boards, we are moving the lookup date closer to the start of the new school year to be able to provide families with more accurate, consistent information.

Families will see class and teacher information in Edsby at the end of August.

Summer is a time of growth and movement in communities. Waiting until the end of August allows schools to determine class lists based on actual enrolment, reducing the need for changes to student placements after the start of school in September.

This new timeline allows schools more time to assign staff and resources where they are needed, and work to fill open positions, helping to ensure classrooms are well-supported at the start of the school year.

For students with unique or exceptional circumstances, school teams will continue to work proactively with families to support a successful transition.

Grade 9 Transition Day

In secondary schools, Tuesday, September 8, 2026 is dedicated to supporting a smooth and positive transition for Grade 9 students, Learning and Life Skills students, and students in Grades 10 – 12 who are new to a school community. The Grade 9 Transition Day is dedicated to welcoming students, allowing them to experience their classes, meet school staff, and participate in activities designed to familiarize them with their new environment and support their high school journey.

All secondary students will begin regular classes on Wednesday, September 9. Returning Grade 10-12 students should not attend school on September 8.

STSCO's Annual Opt-In for Transportation Requests

The opt-in program requires families to confirm their children’s intent to ride the school bus if they are eligible for transportation. Messaging about opting-in was shared directly by Student Transportation Services of Central Ontario (STSCO), with all eligible families. To opt-in, visit the STSCO website.
