Update for Families: May 15, 2026

Dear KPR Families, 

This week, we proudly celebrate Educational Assistants (EA), Child and Youth Workers (CYW), and Personal Care Assistants (PCA) in recognition of World Education Support Personnel Day on May 16. We extend our appreciation to these dedicated professionals whose care and commitment support student success across KPR each and every day! 

As we enter the latter part of the school year, the next six weeks promise to be full of energy and excitement. Among the flurry of activities, we will be taking time to reflect on our journey together this year and celebrate the learning, accomplishments and steps forward students have made.  

Last week, as part of Education Week, we highlighted a few KPR schools’ outstanding achievements - M.J. Hobbs Senior PS students at the Regional Battle of the Books Championship, Lakefield District PS Kindergarten students participating in an Earth Day school yard clean up, and the musical talent and artistic creativity on display at Campbellford District High School. If you haven’t already, be sure to check out these #WeAreKPR social media highlights!  

Lastly, we share a reminder with students and families that information about upcoming days of significance, such as International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOTB) on May 17 and Eid al-Adha on May 27, can be found through KPR’s Events Calendar and by following @kprschools on social media.

Getting Ready for Kindergarten Webinar: Special Education & Inclusive Classrooms 

New and current Kindergarten families are invited to join us May 20, at 6:00 p.m. for a free webinar designed to support families and caregivers of children with special education needs as they prepare for Kindergarten at KPR. 

Join us to learn more about Kindergarten in KPR, how KPR supports diverse learning needs, and how families and schools work together to help every child feel safe, supported, and successful. We’ll walk through the transition to Kindergarten process, share helpful resources, and answer common questions.

KPR Summer School Registration is Open! 

Summer School registration at KPR is now open! Summer School is an opportunity for students in Grades 8-12 to get ahead or catch up in their programs and classes. Learn more about the options available by visiting kprschools.ca and speaking with your school’s Guidance Counsellor today!  

STSCO's Annual Opt-In for Transportation Requests  

Student Transportation Services of Central Ontario (STSCO), which oversees busing in Peterborough, Northumberland and Clarington, is continuing the “opt-in” program for next school year. The opt-in program requires families to confirm their children’s intent to ride the school bus if they are eligible for transportation. Messaging about opting-in is shared directly by STSCO with all eligible families who have a Parent Portal account.
