Update for Families: June 12, 2026
Dear KPR Families,
With only two weeks left of the year, schools are busy places, bustling with many wonderful events and activities that enhance student learning and support well-being! My sincere thanks and best wishes to all students, staff, and volunteers working in collaboration to coordinate year-end arts activities, athletic events, clubs and trips.
I also want to acknowledge the perseverance and dedication of KPR students, who have demonstrated exceptional effort and commitment throughout the year – particularly over these past couple weeks – as they complete projects, culminating tasks and academic assessments, including EQAO testing.
As a school board, we have worked through a comprehensive process to finalize a budget for the next school year. Administration presented a budget to the Board of Trustees earlier this week, based on our strategic priorities and aligned with our work in support of the success and well-being of KPR students.
On Monday evening, Trustees at Budget Committee approved administration’s proposed budget for the 2026-2027 school year of $552,302,825 and capital budget in the amount of $60,766,353. Budget information will be shared on the school board website, after review for final approval at the Board Meeting next week.
For information about days of significance, such as Summer Solstice and National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21, please visit KPR’s Events Calendar or follow @kprschools on Facebook and Instagram.
Wishing you a great weekend.
Sincerely,
Rita Russo
Chief Executive Officer

Updated Class Lookup Timing for 2026-2027
KPR is adjusting the timing of the Class Lookup process for the 2026-27 school year for Kindergarten - Grade 8 students. Similar to practices at other school boards, we are moving the lookup date closer to the start of the new school year to be able to provide families with more accurate, consistent information.
Families will see class and teacher information in Edsby at the end of August.
Summer is a time of growth and movement in communities. Waiting until the end of August allows schools to determine class lists based on actual enrolment, reducing the need for changes to student placements after the start of school in September.
This new timeline allows schools more time to assign staff and resources where they are needed, and work to fill open positions, helping to ensure classrooms are well-supported at the start of the school year.
For students with unique or exceptional circumstances, school teams will continue to work proactively with families to support a successful transition.
Grade 9 Transition Day
In secondary schools, Tuesday, September 8, 2026 is dedicated to supporting a smooth and positive transition for Grade 9 students, Learning and Life Skills students, and students in Grades 10 – 12 who are new to a school community. The Grade 9 Transition Day is dedicated to welcoming students, allowing them to experience their classes, meet school staff, and participate in activities designed to familiarize them with their new environment and support their high school journey.
All secondary students will begin regular classes on Wednesday, September 9. Returning Grade 10-12 students should not attend school on September 8.
STSCO's Annual Opt-In for Transportation Requests
Student Transportation Services of Central Ontario’s (STSCO) opt-in program requires eligible families to confirm their children’s intent to ride the school bus. Messaging about opting-in is shared directly by STSCO with all eligible families who have a Parent Portal account. For more information on the opt-in process, visit the STSCO website.
