Keeping Up with KPR: September 1, 2026
September 1, 2026
Welcome back to another year at KPR schools, focused on student learning, well-being and success!
In the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board, we inspire students to excel in learning, succeed in life, and enrich communities.

First Day of School
Elementary students start school on Tuesday, September 8. Kindergarten students will receive a personalized first week schedule from their school.
Secondary schools will host a Transition Day on Tuesday, September 8 for Grade 9 students, Learning and Life Skills students, and students in Grades 10 – 12 who are new to their school community. The Grade 9 Transition Day is dedicated to welcoming students, allowing them to experience their classes, meet school staff, and participate in activities designed to familiarize them with their environment and support their high school journey.
All secondary students begin regular classes on Wednesday, September 9. Returning Grade 10-12 students should not attend school on September 8 unless they have been asked to help with the Transition Day.
Class and Teacher Look-Up
On Thursday, September 3 after 12:00 p.m., elementary and secondary families will be able to see class and teacher information on Edsby. Families who are already logged into Edsby before noon may need to log out and log back in to access the updated information.
School Office Hours
School offices are open September 2-3 this week, are closed September 4, and will re-open September 8 for the first day of school. Office hours are available on school websites, and the Find a School section of the school board website.
Busing
Preliminary transportation information for September is now available for eligible students who opted in for transportation.
Visit www.stsco.ca and log in to the Parent Portal to view your child's tentative transportation details. Check back before the first day of school as transportation details may change.

Back to School Support
Some children, youth, and families love the excitement of back-to-school. For others, it can bring a mix of emotions, and that's completely normal. Help support a positive start to the school year with these tips and resources:
- Positive Coping Strategies for Kids
- Supporting your Child with School-Related Anxiety - School Mental Health Ontario
Take Care Tuesdays!
Every Tuesday throughout the school year, we will be sharing well-being tips, resources, and supports through KPR’s social media channels for students and families. Think of Take Care Tuesday as a "take what you need" space. Some weeks, you may discover a new tool or strategy. Other weeks, you may simply find a reminder to pause, reflect, and care for yourself and those around you.
This month, we're focusing on the importance of connection and belonging for mental health and well-being. Join us each Tuesday @kprschools on Facebook and Instagram throughout the school year and take what you need!
