Courtice Intermediate and Queen Elizabeth PS Celebrate Music Funding Announcements!

Students at Queen Elizabeth PS and Courtice Intermediate School are set for an exciting year of music-making and creativity! Both KPR schools were among the 96 schools across Canada selected to receive funding through the MusiCounts School Music Funding Program.   

At Queen Elizabeth PS, the $8,000 MusiCounts grant will further enhance the school’s already thriving music program, led by Music Teacher Derek Weatherdon. The funding will expand access to instruments and learning resources, including support for the school's Intermediate Guitar Program. 

“We are enormously grateful to MusiCounts for recognizing the value of the program and investing in our students. The impact of this funding will extend well beyond this school year, with new instruments and resources serving students for many years to come,” shares Derek. 

The Courtice Intermediate school community was also thrilled to learn it had been awarded a $19,000 MusiCounts grant! The funding will strengthen music learning opportunities for current and future students through the purchase of instruments, equipment, and resources to help make music education accessible, and inclusive to all students. With program enhancements on the horizon, students are looking forward to the opportunity to continue expressing their creativity, developing their talents and experiencing the joy of learning music together!
