Update for Families: June 26, 2025

Dear KPR Families,

Happy last day of school!

Congratulations to everyone on another successful year, and I also want to extend special best wishes to students who are graduating this year – whether from secondary school, Grade 6, 8 or Kindergarten!

I’m so proud of everything KPR students and staff accomplished together this year and I’m grateful for the support of families and the community in our shared mission of student achievement and success.

I also feel grateful as I share KPR’s 2025 Community Report Card with you. Each page of this digital, interactive report offers unique glimpses into the many amazing achievements of students, staff and school communities! The smiling faces and inspiring stories within highlight meaningful examples of excellence in Learning, Life and Community across the vibrant school communities in KPR!

One of the stories in the report features an awesome KPR educator – Del Menchions, culinary teacher at ENSS. Learn how he has sparked a passion for cuisine among students, in this short #WeAreKPR video.

As we wrap up the school year, we also come to the end of National Indigenous History Month and Pride Month. Although these months of special recognition are ending, the work and learning continue all year long.

Best wishes for a happy and healthy summer,

Rita Russo
Director of Education

KPR NEWS

Class Look-Up

The Class Lookup App, accessible from the Parent Corner on our board website, will go live July 2nd at 3:00 pm. This allows elementary school families (SK-Grade 8) to look-up their teachers for the next school year. The App requires a PIN, which the ICT Department will share directly with families on July 1. A student’s OEN is also required to access the system, which can be found on student report cards.

Secondary parents and students can view their upcoming schedule in Edsby in late August.

School Office Hours in the Summer

School offices are open until Friday, July 4 and then closed for the summer. Offices are open again August 21-28 and then schools re-open to students for the first day of school on Tuesday, September 2. Registration, transcripts, and other services and information can be accessed through the KPR website over the summer.

Mental Health, Technology and Substance Use Supports

KPR has launched an education campaign focused on enhancing mental health literacy for parents and caregivers and supporting families specifically in talking about cellphone/technology use and substance use, such as vaping. A new web page on the KPR website  includes links to many resources from community partners - to support awareness and education, and to provide practical strategies for families.

STSCO’s First Rider Program

All children who will ride a school bus for the first time this September are invited to attend a free First Rider session with their families this summer. Sessions will be offered from 3:00 to 6:00 pm beginning August 11. Times and locations are available on the STSCO website.

STSCO Busing Opt-in Period for 2025-2026 School Year

The opt-in program requires families to confirm their children’s intent to ride the school bus if they are eligible for transportation. Messaging about opting-in was shared directly by Student Transportation Services of Central Ontario (STSCO), with all eligible families. Opt-in through the STSCO website.

Grade 9 Transition Day

The first day of the 2025-2026 school year for secondary students, (Tuesday, September 2), will be a Grade 9 Transition Day – to welcome students, allow them to visit their classrooms, meet school staff, and participate in activities to familiarize themselves with their new school environment.

On Tuesday, September 2, 2025, only Grade 9 students and Learning and Life Skills (LLS) students will be in attendance. Regular classes for students in Grades 10 to 12 next year, will begin on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. More information will be shared by secondary schools directly.
