Safe and Caring Schools
Everyone has the right to be safe, and to feel safe, welcome and included at school.
For more information about Safe and Caring Schools, including policies, emergency response and restorative practice, please visit the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board website.
Positive School Climate Teams
According to the Ministry of Education, all Ontario schools must have Safe and Accepting Schools Teams – also known as Positive School Climate Teams (PSCT) in KPRDSB.
Positive School Climate Teams:
- are tasked with fostering a safe, inclusive, and accepting school climate.
- analyze school data, develop strategies for resolving issues and improving school climate, and incorporate these actions into the school improvement plan.
- include at least one student, teacher, parent/guardian, support staff, community member and the principal or vice-principal. Members will reflect a range of perspectives, knowledge, and experience while working toward common purposes.
Positive School Climate Teams also support the creation of Positive School Climate and Bullying Prevention & Intervention Plans, specific to each school.
Read our school’s Positive School Climate and Bullying Prevention & Intervention Plan.
Bullying Prevention and Reporting
We are committed to providing safe, caring and restorative learning environments to support student learning, achievement and well-being. Bullying is a serious issue and one that is never acceptable. At KPR, we actively promote the prevention of all forms of bullying.
If you, your child or teen have been bullied, or have witnessed bullying, we want to know about it. Please report all incidents of bullying as soon as possible.
Contact your school principal or report the issue using KPR's online Report IT! tool. Please include as much detail as possible, so that we can respond as quickly and as thoroughly as possible. If you or your child or teen is in immediate danger, call 911.
