Updates for Families: October 10, 2025
Dear KPR Families,
With World Mental Health Day this week, and Thanksgiving weekend just ahead, I want to focus on wellness and gratitude.
Last week, National Custodial Workers’ Recognition Day on October 2 provided an opportunity to show our thanks to custodial, maintenance and trades staff at KPR who work diligently to create safe, clean and welcoming environments for students and staff – we’re grateful for all that they do!
We also celebrated the professional excellence of KPR’s many amazing teachers, as part of World Teachers’ Day on October 5. From fostering curiosity and a passion for learning, to building confidence and life skills, teachers play a vital role in shaping the future of our students and communities! We appreciate their dedication to student success.
World Mental Health Day is an opportunity to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health. At KPR, we understand that working together can go a long way in supporting every student's overall well-being. Families are invited to visit the board website to learn about our Positive School Climate Teams and how our schools are actively working with students, staff, families and community members to ensure that school is a place where every student feels they belong. School Mental Health Ontario also offers many valuable resources and webinars to support parents and caregivers in navigating mental health topics at home and strategies for understanding and supporting your child.
October is a busy month filled with many events and days of importance. For information about upcoming days of significance, such as Diwali on October 20, Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Appreciation Day on October 21, and School Bus Driver Appreciation Day on October 22 visit the Events calendar on the KPR website.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Rita Russo
Director of Education
