Updates for Families: April 1, 2026
Dear KPR families,
This week spring is certainly upon us, with seasonal showers and warmer temperatures. Earth Hour, on March 28, is an important opportunity each spring, and one that aligns with the Board Action Plan commitment to strengthen environmental consciousness and explore strategies to reduce negative ecological impacts. Thank you to students and staff who have been thoughtfully participating in Earth Hour activities and raising awareness of issues impacting the environment.
On March 31 each year, National Indigenous Languages Day, we recognize the important role First Nation, Métis and Inuit languages play in carrying knowledge and traditions from one generation to the next and embodying Indigenous cultures, histories, knowledge, and connections to the land.
I also want to acknowledge World Autism Awareness Day tomorrow, as we work to continue to represent and support people with autism and all those in their lives.
And special wishes for a peaceful time of reflection and celebration to all those observing Pesach (Passover), Good Friday and Easter Sunday in the coming days.
Information about upcoming days of significance, such as International Day of Pink on April 8 or Holy Friday on April 10, is available on the KPR Events Calendar and shared through @kprschools social media accounts.
Take good care and I hope the Easter Bunny is good to everyone!
Rita Russo,
Director of Education
KPR NEWS
Community Conversations – Student Census Data
We want to hear from students, parents/guardians, staff, and community members from diverse backgrounds at a series of Community Conversations in the coming weeks. Join us in conversations this April and May about the 2025 Student Census data to help us better understand the lived experiences of KPR students.
During the sessions, participants will collaboratively interpret the Student Census data and help identify what the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board can do to support the academic achievement and well-being of all students.
Meetings will take place in-person with a hybrid online attendance option.
Learn more and register to join an upcoming session.
Mental Health and Well-being Webinars
This spring, School Mental Health Ontario (SMHO) is offering a free webinar series to help parents and caregivers navigate important topics that support children’s mental health. Sessions will cover conversations about vaping, body image, anxiety, and healthy technology use.
Full details and previous webinars are available on the SMHO website.
