Update for Families: September 12, 2025

Dear KPR families,

It’s hard to believe we are already at the end of the second week of school! As students, staff and families settle into routines, I hope that everyone can reflect on and celebrate a successful start to the year.

Our shared focus continues to be on fostering safe, inclusive places where we set high expectations for success. We continue to focus on seeing all students as capable learners, sparking their curiosity and elevating their voices. We know how important it is for students to feel seen, heard and reflected in the learning resources, spaces and people around them.

As we work together to support student success, I would like to invite interested families to participate in a meaningful webinar focused on balancing technology use and building healthy relationships, sponsored by the Parent Involvement Committee - Rebuilding Connection: Raising Socially Smart Kids in an Online World – on September 27. More details are included in the NEWS section below.

I want to highlight that September 10 was World Suicide Prevention Day. Prevention begins with mental health promotion. We're helping students build skills to manage stress, solve problems, and know when—and how—to seek support at school and in their community.  We’re also supporting educators and families to recognize when a student might be struggling with their mental health and the resources that can help, including access to services provided by school-based Mental Health Clinicians. Kids Help Phone Canada and KPR’s new Parent Portal for Mental Health, Technology and Substance Use also offer helpful resources and information for students, staff and families.

For information about upcoming days of significance, such as Powley Day on September 19 and Rosh Hashanah on September 23-24, please visit the Events section of the KPR website. Follow @kprschools on Facebook and Instagram for timely updates and #WeAreKPR highlights!

Sincerely,

Rita Russo
Director of Education
