Update for Families: March 12, 2026

Dear KPR families,

March is a busy and exciting time in KPR. As we look forward to warm and sunny days ahead, I want to take a moment and thank families for all the many ways you support your children’s education every day.

We know that students respond positively when their parents/caregivers are involved in their education - from communicating with school staff, to supporting at home, attending school events when able, and helping students be prepared for learning each day. Your care, encouragement and effort play an important role in supporting successful learning experiences for students.

Information about upcoming days of significance, such as International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (March 20), World Down Syndrome Day (March 21), Nowruz (March 20), and World Water Day (March 23), is available on KPR’s Events Calendar and shared through @kprschools social media accounts. Best wishes to all those in Muslim communities who will be recognizing the end of Ramadan on March 20.

I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable March Break!

Rita Russo
Director of Education

Volunteer Recognition

The Accolades program honours significant contributions and/or achievements of KPR students, staff, and community members.  At the April Board meeting each year, Trustees recognize outstanding volunteers from across the Board, who are nominated by KPR staff, who have made a significant positive impact on the quality of educational programs and/or the educational experience of students, including:

  • Contributions that reinforce the Board’s mission, student achievement or other components of the Strategic Priorities.
  • Contributions resulting in positive promotion of KPR and public education.
  • Initiation and development of partnerships that result in significant enrichment of students’ educational experience or the effectiveness of the school district.

If you would like to nominate an outstanding volunteer in your school, the Volunteer Nomination Form should be completed by Wednesday, April 8.
