COVID-19
COVID-19 has changed most aspects of our lives, including education at KPR, in Canada and around the world. At all times, KPR works closely with, and takes direction from, our local Health Units and provincial health officials, to protect students and staff.
Public Health Information about Respiratory Illness
Please see a letter from Dr. Kieran Moore, Chief Medical Officer of Health, to Ontario parents and caregivers, sharing some important information and reminders to help protect against the spread of respiratory infections.
Masking Recommendations
Due to an increase of respiratory illnesses, Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health is strongly recommending masks for all indoor public settings, including schools and childcares. KPR schools are mask-friendly places. Along with our local public health unit partners, we strongly encourage masking, while also respecting individual choice about wearing masks. Schools continue to have 3-ply masks available for students and staff. Please stay home when you are sick and clean your hands often to help keep everyone healthy.
Important Information & Resources: COVID-19
The COVID-19 Resource Links to the right provide information for parents, guardians and staff on this important subject. Given the constantly changing nature of COVID-19, we also include COVID-19 updates in our regular updates to families and staff.
Please see KPR’s full Return to School Plan.
Please see Updates to Families here.
Please self-screen daily using the self-screening tool.
We remind all families and staff that it is extremely important to screen themselves for possible symptoms of COVID-19 every morning, before heading to school. Please use the Ontario government’s online self-screening tool for this purpose. It will help you make an informed decision about whether you should attend school or child care, mask, isolate, test or consult a health care provider.
Remaining Health and Safety Measures
Hand Hygiene and Respiratory Etiquette
- Appropriate hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette will continue to be promoted and integrated throughout the school day.
Enhanced Cleaning and Disinfecting
- Schools and school vehicles will continue with enhanced cleaning protocols in place. Required critical supplies and equipment, such as disinfectant, will continue to be provided to school boards through the province.
Ventilation Measures
- School boards will continue to implement ventilation best practices outlined in 2021:B14 School Ventilation. This includes use of standalone HEPA filter units in occupied Kindergarten classrooms and in all occupied learning spaces without mechanical ventilation.
WiFi at Schools
We know that not all KPR students and families have access to WiFi. As we work to support our communities, we have designated all our schools as public WiFi hotspots. Members of the public may access the Internet at no charge from outside our buildings. In using this resource, we encourage everyone to follow public health directives and maintain physical distancing. Please see the instructions for accessing the WiFi.
