Update for Families: June 30, 2022
Dear KPR Families,
Welcome to the end of another school year! We are incredibly proud of the strength, resilience and growth our students, staff and families have demonstrated through these difficult and demanding times. We continue to learn a lot about ourselves, the importance of relationships, and the value of our KPR family as a community of care.
I invite you to watch an end-of-year video message from myself and Chairperson of the Board Diane Lloyd.
As we celebrate this successful milestone, we are excited to share our 2022 Community Report Card, which provides a view into the many amazing accomplishments and achievements of our students, staff, and school communities during the 2021-2022 school year! The report features exciting stories about KPR's Passport to Reconciliation Program, Culturally Relevant and Responsive Pedagogy (CRRP), mental health and student well-being, learning highlights from the year, along with many other positive stories from our schools and our school board. Watch for a printed copy of the Report Card in local community newspapers in July!
The Community Report Card also features our last #WeAreKPR story of the school year. Advocating for student needs, inspiring growth and helping students overcome everyday challenges, Leigh-Anne Mondesire and Lana Langlois are leading the way in supporting student well-being and success at Clarington Central Secondary School!
As we approach the Canada Day weekend, we recognize the importance of acknowledging Indigenous peoples who are the original stewards and caretakers of this land. Whether you’re reflecting on Canada’s history or participating in festivities that honour the diversity, culture, and achievements of Canadians and Indigenous peoples, we wish you a safe and happy celebration.
With this being my last message of this school year, I want to wish everyone a safe, healthy summer! I hope you are able to spend quality time with loved ones and participate in activities that replenish you. We look forward to welcoming you back in September!
Best wishes,
Rita Russo,
Director of Education
New KPR Website and Logo Refresh
KPR launched a new website this week - kprschools.ca has a fresh design, updated content, improved navigation and meets the latest accessibility requirements. We’ve incorporated feedback from students, staff, parents, and community members through a survey and focus group sessions this fall.
New features include:
- school profiles with maps and directions,
- a detailed calendar of school and board events, PA Days, Holy Days and days of significance,
- news and announcement sections, and
- a colourful home page with many entry points and pathways, making it easier to find all the important information students, staff, and families need to support a successful school journey at KPR!
Students, staff, families and community members are encouraged to visit the site and check out the new features! The website is a living document, and will be updated on an ongoing basis. Comments or feedback can be shared using the “Website Feedback” link located in the footer of the website. This form will provide KPR’s website team with the URL of the page visitors are on, to more easily find the content related to the comments.
The launch of the website also coincides with a refresh of KPR’s logo. This additional, alternative logo maintains the key design elements of the original logo, created in 1998, but also includes more colours, a new font, and stylized KPR lettering. The original logo will still be maintained and used in various applications including, among others, official or legal documents, school plaques and/or signage.
Class Look-Up
Elementary families can look up teacher information for next year in the Class Lookup App, which can be accessed from the parent portal - parents.kprdsb.ca, beginning June 30th after 3:00pm. Students’ OEN, date of birth and PIN are required. If you experience any difficulties pulling up this information, please contact the school principal or secretary for assistance. The PIN for each student was sent out to families earlier this week.
It is important to note that due to changes in enrolment during the summer or early fall, teachers may change, and therefore, this information is tentative. We appreciate your understanding and support in these situations.
Secondary families and students can view their schedules in Edsby in late August.
School Office Hours in the Summer
School offices are open until Thursday, July 7 and then closed for the summer until Wednesday, August 24. Schools are closed September 2, but re-open to students for the first day of school on Tuesday, September 6.
School registration, transcripts, other services and information can be accessed through the KPR website over the summer.
