In 1849, Cobourg's first Grammar School was built. Several years later, Cobourg Collegiate Institute was erected. One hundred and forty-three years later, we celebrate the newly established Cobourg Collegiate Institute. This school has its roots in the rich heritage of this historic Cobourg educational institution. In 2014, Cobourg District Collegiate Institute East closed after 50 years. In 2015, its sister school, Cobourg District Collegiate Institute West closed its doors and the two were joined once again. At Cobourg Collegiate Institute we strive, just as so many of our staff and students before us have done, for excellence, respect and community and we will continue to build on this and other traditions as we continue to build our school together.
About Us
Welcome to Cobourg Collegiate Institute!
If you are interested in a dynamic learning environment, then CCI is for you! We believe that it is our responsibility to build and maintain a supportive and collaborative culture at our school. We provide support for all learners through a wide variety of programming, including an International Baccalaureate Program, English Language classes, the trades and experiential learning opportunities including cooperative education, Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program and Specialist High Skills Major, as well as learning life skills. Student life is vibrant thanks to the many clubs and sports teams. A rich drama and music program demonstrate deep commitment to and value for the arts. Student leadership is encouraged and valued here at CCI, and there are formal opportunities through Student Governance. We also offer a GSA, Indigenous Education, and Green Industries. Welcome to a caring atmosphere where staff and administration provide support with the goal of students finding success based on their passions in an ever-changing world.
