Staff Development & Training > Professional Development

The Teaching and Learning Department and the Leadership Development and Staff Training Centre support student achievement through professional development, growth, training and quality service to all sectors of employees in the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board. We provide a continuum of individual and collective professional development and training opportunities. This learning supports the building of system capacity in meeting the organization's goals.

For information on professional development opportunities, staff members are encouraged to visit PD Place on mykpr through the link under the Staff Section of this website.

Differentiated Instruction and Learning Communities

The attached podcast was created to share the results achieved by the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board (KPRDSB) with funding provided by the Council of Ontario Directors of Education (CODE).

We chose a podcast to share these results as it supports both our work at integrating technology in our learning community, as well as our belief in the importance of hearing the voices of many teachers as they share their experiences. The focus for the project was learning how to develop differentiated instructional strategies and assessments through learning communities, primarily in secondary schools. Although the CODE funding was not extended in the 2008/2009 school year, the practice of developing learning communities to support teacher practice has continued in our board in a variety of contexts.

We hope that you are inspired and motivated to consider the power of both Differentiated Instruction and Learning Communities as support to the work that you do.
