New Crestwood Intermediate Transition Committee
Welcome to the new web page established to keep parents, guardians, students, staff and community members up to date on the transition to the new Crestwood Intermediate School.
This page will include news on planning for the moves of students from James Strath, Kawartha Heights, Millbrook/South Cavan, North Cavan and Westmount PS’s English program to Crestwood, and of Westmount’s Grades 7-8 French Immersion students to Adam Scott Intermediate. These changes will come into effect September 1, 2020.
As promised, KPR is now forming a joint Board/school/community Transition Committee to recommend ways to make this transition as smooth and welcoming as possible for all involved. This committee will include the principal, a student, a parent and a staff member from each school in the Crestwood Family of Schools; Westmount will have two student representatives, one each for the English and French Immersion programs.
The Transition Committee will begin meeting later in February. Ideas generated at these meetings will help in planning effective student, family and staff activities such as evening open houses, athletics, extracurricular opportunities, transportation, school scheduling and more.
Each school’s parent/guardian representative will be chosen with the involvement of its School Council. If you would like to put your name forward to sit on the Transition Committee, please contact your principal.
As always, if you have specific concerns regarding how your child will be affected by the transition, please speak with the teacher or principal.
Watch for news from the Transition Committee on this page, and via School Messenger from your school.
