Non-Teaching Job Opportunities - Overview
GENERAL INFORMATION
A police records check (including a vulnerable sector search), valid within six months from the date of hire, is a condition of employment with KPRDSB. Please note that there have been reports that it may take up to 6 weeks to process police records checks in some jurisdictions. With that in mind, we strongly suggest that candidates begin the process to obtain a police screening as soon as possible when applying to a particular ad.
Schools do not accept resumes or keep on file. Other than for casual custodial applicants, Human Resources at the Education does not keep unsolicited paper or electronic resumes.
Unless otherwise stated, please address your application letter to Lori Atkins, HR Specialist, Recruitment.
Secretarial and Clerical Staff
At this time we are not accepting resumes for secretarial positions. We recruit once a year for the supply secretary list. When our needs change, we advertise on this site. Advanced word processing, spreadsheet and data base software skills along with a minimum two years experience in an office environment are required. Experience in school settings is a definite asset.
Custodial Staff
Casual custodial recruitment is ongoing. Click on the "external" link on the left side of this page for more information regarding the recruiting process, qualifications and job description for custodial positions. Application may be kept on file for future reference. Please keep your application up to date. If the need arises for us to search applications, it is important that your information is accurate (particularly your residence and contact information).
Early Childhood Educators - Early Learning Program
At this point in time, recruitment for registered Early Childhood Educators is closed. Please refer back to this website periodically for updates and/or call for resumes. We do not collect unsolicited paper or electronic resumes.
Professional Staff
For both unionized and management professional positions, we advertise as vacancies occur, posting on both this website and a combination of newspaper and/or professional group publications.
Educational Assistants and Child and Youth Workers
When the need arises to recruit Education Assistants, Child and Youth Workers, we post advertisements on the Apply to Education Network (ATEN) at the following website address: applytoeducation.com. Registered candidates should then apply directly to the posting if they meet the criteria specified in the advertisement. Address your cover letter to Lori Atkins, Human Resources Specialist-Recruitment.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS for Education Assistants/Child Youth Worker Candidates:
1) How do I get on the supply list with KPRDSB? First register with ATEN and then you may apply when we advertise for positions matching your qualifications.
2) How often do you advertise for the education assistant or child youth worker positions? We advertise throughout the year. Our peak recruitment times are summer and fall.
3) I am interested in applying to the KPR School Board for September 2010, is there a deadline for applications? Any related deadlines can be found on the postings themselves.
4) I live a significant distance from the boundaries of the KPRDSB. Will I still be considered for an interview? When we advertise we need candidates to be available immediately. You should outline in your cover letter when you will be re-locating and to what geographical area.
5) How can I be sure my application reached the appropriate person when I applied? When the job posting closes, all candidates are sent an e-mail confirming their application. Contact ATEN for information on ensuring your application was received to a particular job posting.
6) I have been registered on ATEN but have not heard anything. What is the next step? Ensure you are signed up with "job alert" so you do not miss any job postings. We
advertise periodically throughout the school year for you to apply. You will not hear anything from us unless selected for an interview in response to a job posting.
