Tutors in the Classroom Program
Students enrolled in post-secondary programs at universities and colleges are eligible to participate in Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board’s Tutors in the Classroom Program.
Program Objectives
Tutors will provide assistance to students, one on one or in small groups, in a designated class from SK to Grade 3. The focus is in the curriculum areas of literacy and numeracy.
What’s in it for a Tutor?
In addition to gaining valuable and practical experience by working with students in a school setting, tutors will receive remuneration up to $2000. per tutor ($15.00/hr.), which includes a three hour training session.
Time and Responsibilities
Participation in this program is during regular school hours and is within the time frame of October 2011 to April 2012. The expectation is that tutors provide a designated school with up to a maximum of 135 hours of service. Tutors will negotiate their personal tutoring schedules and specific duties in collaboration with the school principal and the classroom teacher. Travel to the school is each tutor’s responsibility.
School Locations
There are designated KPR schools involved in this program which are located in the Board’s three geographic areas of Clarington, Peterborough Area/County and Northumberland.
